Hommage à AA/SK is a result of 6-7 months experimentation with naturally occurring dyes from the kitchen. The finished quilt contains 48 different dyes and stains including fruit, vegetables, teas, spices, herbs, leaves, husks, shells, pits, skins, legumes and grains.

Each square illustrates one kitchen dye (or stain) ingredient. The darker half of which illustrates the result of dyeing with fabric has been treated with a mordant - a substance that helps dye bond more strongly with the fabric - whereas the lighter half is untreated, natural cotton.
